Following the application process for YEKA GES-2024, a significant step in Turkey's renewable energy investments, the YEKA RES-2024 tenders have been completed. A total of 100 applications from 40 companies were submitted for the tender, which offered a total connection capacity of 1200 MWe in Edirne, Kırklareli, and Sivas. The high participation highlighted the sector's dynamism and investors' confidence in wind energy.
Alparslan Bayraktar, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, emphasized that the tender process took place in a highly competitive environment. He stated, "These projects are a critical step in our country's journey toward energy independence. A total investment of $1.2 billion has been unlocked. The projects to be implemented will meet the electricity needs of 2 million households through wind energy."
Bayraktar also noted that the prices determined in the tenders would reflect as cost-effective electricity for citizens. He said, "The electricity produced over the next 20 years will cost almost half of the global market prices. This will provide a significant advantage for consumers."
As Turkey's renewable energy investments continue unabated, YEKA projects are both enhancing energy supply security and contributing to economic growth.
