The YEKA RES-2024 competition, organized by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, garnered significant interest in line with Turkey's renewable energy goals. Held on January 28, 2025, the competition allocated a total of 1,200 MW of connection capacity in the provinces of Edirne, Kırklareli, and Sivas, unlocking $1.2 billion in investments.
Massive Investment in Wind Energy with YEKA RES-2024
A total of 40 companies participated in the YEKA RES-2024 competition, submitting 100 applications. The tender, which saw intense competition, attracted great interest in capacity allocations. Alparslan Bayraktar, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, stated that the competition demonstrated confidence in Turkey's energy sector. He said, "With these projects, we are promoting domestic production and increasing employment. We are taking strong steps in the field of wind energy by adhering to localization requirements."
High Competition in YEKA RES-2024: 18 Times Oversubscribed!
The total capacity of 1,200 MW received 18 times oversubscription, and the winning companies will pay a total of 120million∗∗incontributionfees,reachingupto∗∗120million∗∗incontributionfees,reachingupto∗∗100,000 per megawatt. Minister Bayraktar emphasized that the results of the tender would greatly benefit the sector and that the priority goal is to implement the projects quickly.
Projects to Be Implemented Rapidly
Minister Bayraktar stated, "We know that the environmental and permitting processes of the winning companies have been largely completed. We expect these projects to be commissioned and start energy production as soon as possible." YEKA projects continue to play a critical role in Turkey's renewable energy journey while making significant contributions to energy supply security.
